Job summary

Care Initiatives is hiring a Cook for evening shifts in Iowa. You will contribute to menu planning, prepare and serve meals, and help ensure nutritious, well-presented dishes for residents in our skilled nursing community.

We value compassion, teamwork, and adherence to dietary guidelines. Training in Food Safety, Sanitation, and Modified Diets is encouraged, with opportunities for growth and a supportive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food Safety and Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Healthcare dietary experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation to meet nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented per dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
