Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a compassionate Cook for our skilled nursing communities in Iowa. You will contribute to menu planning, prepare and serve nutritious meals, and support residents’ comfort and dining experience.

Evening shifts available in a caring, team-focused environment. Join a network of over 40 nursing communities across Iowa and help provide dignified dining that aligns with dietary needs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willing to complete training in Food Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that provide dignified dining experiences and support residents’ comfort and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented per dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents and incorporate feedback into meal service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
