Job summary

Care Initiatives in Iowa is seeking a compassionate Cook for a part-time day shift to support residents with nutritious, flavorful meals that meet dietary guidelines and personal preferences. You’ll contribute to menu planning and food preparation, ensuring meals are appetizing, well balanced, and served with dignity in a healthcare setting.

Experience in quantity food preparation is preferred; you’ll have the opportunity to complete training in Food Safety, Sanitation, and Modified Diets.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity food preparation.
• Willingness to complete Food Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets training.
• Healthcare dietary experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and presented with food safety standards.
• Develop positive relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
