State Center Specialty Care in State Center, IA invites applications for a Cook on a part-time evening schedule. Join Care Initiatives to help deliver nutritious meals and compassionate service in a 45-bed long-term care setting.

You will assist with menu planning, meal preparation, and serving, while ensuring dietary requirements and safety standards are met. Experience in healthcare dietary roles is a plus, with opportunities for training and growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that are nutritious, enjoyable, and dignified for residents.
• Ensure meals are well-balanced, appealing, and meet dietary requirements and food-safety standards.
• Develop positive relationships with residents and incorporate feedback into service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
