Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a compassionate Cook for a part-time shift from 2pm to 8pm, including every other weekend, at one of our 40+ skilled nursing communities across Iowa. You will contribute to menu planning, meal preparation, and dining experiences that promote resident comfort and nutrition.

Your role involves preparing balanced meals, maintaining safety standards, and engaging with residents to tailor service to their preferences while supporting an enjoyable dining environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skill in quantity food preparation.
• Willingness to complete training in Food Safety Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Healthcare dietary setting experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that support residents’ comfort and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented per dietary standards.
• Develop positive relationships with residents and incorporate feedback into meal service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
