Description
- Maintain the kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner.
- Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities, following prepared menus and portion control guides.
- Prepare special diets accurately and record food temperatures for meals.
- Prepare pureed foods and ensure presentation is appealing to residents.
- Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments and assist with serving meals.
- Clean cooking areas and serving carts, and maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets.
- Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nurses.
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
- Ensure all cleaning schedules are followed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility.
- Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various instructions.
- Must obtain and maintain a ServSafe Certificate.
- Knowledge of PCC preferred and good standing with the Department of Public Health.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to stand, walk, reach, push/pull frequently, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical activities as described. Work environment is low to moderate noise, with accommodations for disabilities.
