Job summary

U.S. Army MWR at Fort Polk, Leesville, LA, is seeking a Cook/Food Service worker for the Community Child Development Center. You will support CACFP-based menus, perform diverse cooking tasks, and ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.

The role involves preparing meals, ordering and coordinating food with Specialists, and mentoring youth club activities related to health and fitness programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of work experience in duties described, including use of professional kitchen appliances and equipment.
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs on a routine basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing a CACFP-compliant food service program.
• Perform a range of cooking tasks: cleaning, peeling, dicing, grilling, baking, and mixing ingredients.
• Prepare and cook varied foods including meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, stews, casseroles, gravies, and baked goods following recipes.
