Meadowview of Johnston is seeking a Cook/Culinary Assistant to join our team in Johnston, IA. This full-time role supports residents, staff, and families with meals, under the Cassia nonprofit umbrella.

The position offers day shifts, competitive pay, and on-the-job training in a supportive healthcare setting. The Cook/Culinary Assistant works with the culinary team to prepare meals, maintain safety and sanitation, and ensure great service for residents and guests.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of commercial cooking/food preparation experience.
• Strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook all meals to ensure adherence to recipes and quality standards.
• Observe and report on low stock or high-demand choices.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and families.
• Work within the department to provide quality and nutritious meals and service to residents.
• Assist with food preparation and serving meals to residents.
• Help maintain a clean and sanitary dietary department.
• Wash dishes and clean the kitchen and dining rooms.
• Assist residents, employees, and guests with a broad range of dietary needs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

As a Culinary Assistant at Meadowview of Johnston, you serve residents, employees, and family members’ meals. Our Culinary Department is a great group to work with and is valued by the staff and residents alike. There are no late nights in our kitchen!

Position Type: Full-Time, benefits eligible position working a varying schedule including every other weekend.

Shifts Available: Days 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Including Every Other Weekend)

Wage Range: $17 - $19

Cook/Culinary Assistant Responsibilities
