Job summary

Chatsworth Commons Senior Living in Chatsworth, CA is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents, following menus and safety standards. You will support a caring kitchen team and help maintain dietary quality in daily service.

We require 1+ year of cooking experience and ServSafe or Food Handlers certification. The role may include early mornings or evenings; a supportive environment and competitive wages are offered.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of cooking experience in a kitchen.
• Experience cooking large quantities for groups or residents.
• Certification in ServSafe or Food Handlers preferred.
• Experience maintaining nutritional balance in meals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe culinary environment with infection control procedures.
• Keep kitchen and equipment clean and organized; maintain safe food temperatures.
• Wash, dry, and store dishes after every meal.
• Follow provided menus to prepare nutritionally sound meals for residents.
• Assist Lead or Resident Services Manager during Health Department inspections.
• Prepare nourishing meals using non-processed foods where possible.
• Report shortages of snacks or ingredients to Culinary Lead.
• Report equipment issues to Culinary Lead promptly.
• May work extra shifts or assist with special occasions.
• Early morning or evening hours may be required.

As part of our employee benefits, eligible team members receive a monthly phone stipend:

• $25/month – Full-Time
• $12.50/month – Part-Time

The stipend begins following successful completion of the 90-day introductory period.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe culinary environment in the facility using strict infection control procedures.
• Kitchen and equipment will be clean and organized at all times. Safe food temperatures willbe maintained at all times according to regulations.
• Dishes will be cleaned and properly stored after every meal.
• Follow the provided food menu for nutritionally sound meals, with the needs andpreferences of the residents kept in mind.
• Contact the Lead or Resident Services Manager to assist in Health Department inspections ifthey occur on your shift.
• Prepare and offer nourishing meals and snacks using as many non-processed foods aspossible.
• Report shortages or needs of snacks or meal ingredients to the Culinary Lead.
• Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to Culinary Lead immediately.
• May be asked to take extra shifts or help with special occasions.
• This may include earlymorning or evening hours.

Qualifications

• Must have 1+ years experience as a Cook.
• Cook/Dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care home or other related medical facility is preferred but not required.
• Experience in cooking a variety of food in large quantities.
• Food Handlers or Serv Safe certification.
• Experience with food preparation and nutrition.
