Central York School District is hiring a part-time Cook/Cashier at Sinking Springs Elementary School in York, PA. This role focuses on meal preparation, serving, and cashiering to support nutritious student meals.

The position runs 4.5 hours per day, 187 days per year, with emphasis on cleanliness, safety, and positive interactions with students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Knowledge in the food service industry with understanding of nutrition, sanitation and food safety preferred.
• ServSafe preferred.
• Cooking experience preferred.
• General working knowledge of computers preferred.
• Must demonstrate highly structured and organized approach with good communication skills.
• Must obtain PA Clearances within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, serving and cleanup of the school breakfast and/or lunch program.
• Assist Head Cook in estimating quantities of food to students and staff.
• Participate in serving food to students and staff.
• Assist in required cafeteria cleanup and maintain sanitation standards.
• Interact with students and staff in a courteous and positive manner.

Job Summary: Assist with the preparation, serving and cleanup of the school breakfast and/or lunch program. Create an environment that produces a satisfying school experience as well as a professional image of the school while providing a well-balanced student breakfast and lunch program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare food in accordance with established procedures and direction of the Head Cook.
• Assist the Head Cook in estimating the quantities of food to students and staff.
• Actively participate in the serving of food to students and staff.
• Assist and participate in the necessary cleanup of all cafeteria-related areas.
• Maintain and practice required standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
• Become knowledgeable about the overall operation to insure continuity and consistency of service in the event of personnel absence.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe operation of all kitchen equipment.
• Interact with students and staff in a courteous and positive manner.
• Actively participate in activities designed to improve the school lunch program.
• Perform other duties reasonably related to the Food Services function as assigned by the Head Cook, Principal and/or Food Service Director.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent(required)
• Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation and food safety is preferred

Hourly Rate: $14.40-$19.15 *Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer*
