Job Description

Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for preparing food for the students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Uses all kitchen equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient way.
• Maintains the highest standards of safety, food safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Serves all students in an efficient, food‑safe and hospitable manner; ensures appropriate portion sizes to meet state requirements.
• Follows all food safety guidelines; demonstrates proper use of thermometers to ensure all foods are served at a safe temperature.
• Prepares food according to a planned menu and recipes.
• Ensures finished product is of the best quality in flavor and appearance before it is served.
• Accurately completes a daily production record.
• Reports to the kitchen manager any faulty or inferior quality food received.
• Assists in the unloading and putting away of all food deliveries.
• Completes daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and facilities, including sweeping and mopping.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous experience working in the food industry is preferred.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management and multi‑tasking skills.
• Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
• Must be able to stoop and bend over.
• Must be able to reach overhead.
• Must be able to read labels, instructions and follow recipes.
