Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a full-time hospital cook to prepare patient meals from scratch, follow dietary requests, and operate within EPIC. You will read recipes, manage portions, and ensure accurate diets while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires at least one year of cook experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

• Determines and prepares food for service according to menu and patient needs.
• Reads and follows standardized recipes; cooks to order and tests for doneness.
• Direct patient meals; uses EPIC to take orders and adjust items within prescribed diets.
• Maintains logs for temperature and quick chill; ensures sanitation and safety.
• Handles patient concerns and coordinates with kitchen and department staff.

Weighs items when necessaryPerforms dishwashing as necessaryKnowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)Direct patient care; takes patient meal orders, correcting food items within allowed prescribed diets, using EPIC as needed.
