Job summary

Husson University is seeking a team-oriented individual to assist in basic food preparation and service in the university dining facilities. You will help serve meals, maintain accurate quantities for large groups, and participate in cleaning and setup tasks in a fast-paced campus environment.

Prior culinary exposure is preferred, with Serve-Safe certification encouraged. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and wear the issued uniform as required.

Qualifications

• Six months of culinary experience preferred.
• Serve-Safe certification or ability to obtain.
• Basic food preparation and service knowledge.

Job responsibilities

• The overall purpose of this job is to assist in the basic food preparation and service of meals.
• Serve and maintain food quantities for large numbers of people.
• Assist with general cleaning chores in the dining area and kitchen.
• Set up, break down and maintain independent serveries.
• Provide assistance with catered functions and retail operations.
• Provide guidance to student employees.
• Be well groomed and wear the proper issued uniform.
• Assist with stocking as requested.
• Assist with dishwashing as requested.
• Participate in training, as well as other departmental function requirements.
• Other duties as requested.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience: Six months of culinary experience preferred

Qualifications

• Ability to operate and maintain production equipment.
• Basic knife skills.
• Knowledge of basic cooking methods.
• Knowledge of proper/safe time and temperature for food handling.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must have good customer service skills.
• Ability to work well independently as well as within a team.
• Serve-Safe Certified, or the ability to become certified.

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 50 pounds
• Occasionally push and pull equipment on wheels that weighs up to 150 pounds
