Your role

The Dietary Cook is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production and portion control, using standardized recipes. He/she is under the general supervision of the Dietary Manager and/or the Assistant Manager and is responsible to the Directory of Dietary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and facility menus
• Maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and portion control
• Assist with menu planning and food substitutions as needed
• Ensure compliance with dietary restrictions and infection control procedures
• Keep work areas clean and sanitized; properly store and label food items
• Collaborate with dining services team to support resident satisfaction

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, speak, and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to read and interpret standardized recipes for quantity cooking
• Willing to become familiar with spices, flavoring, and herbs
• Ability to supervise and work cooperatively with fellow employees
• May be required to earn Food Handler’s Certificate
