Job summary

Williamsville Suburban is seeking a full-time Cook to join our team. You will prepare meals, including modified textures for therapeutic diets, and supervise dietary aides in the preparation and service of foods.

You will follow the Dining Services Director's instructions, ensure safety and sanitation, and maintain proper meal schedules. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in large-scale cooking.
• Knowledge of large-scale and therapeutic food preparation.
• Able to perform physical work and work as a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Available for weekends and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

Williamsville Suburban is currently looking to hire a full time Cook to join our dedicated team of professionals. We are looking for people who are passionate about their craft and bring professionalism to their work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares food for meals, including modified textures for restricted and therapeutic diets.
• Supervises dietary aides in the preparation and serving of foods and beverages.
• Follows instructions of the Dining Services Director in the preparation of meals and maintains meal schedules.
• Prepares food by methods that conserve nutritive value and flavor. Ensures foods are palatable, attractive and in the proper form to meet the individual needs of the residents.
• Assures that all food items are handled properly to ensure safety and sanitation standards according to State and Federal regulations. Properly stores, covers, and refrigerates necessary items. Ensures that foods are cooked to the appropriate temperatures according to the FDA Food Code, latest edition.
• Practices and supervises infection control policies.
• Attends in-service education and dining services staff meetings as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in large-scale cooking
• Strong knowledge of large scale & therapeutic food prep
• Must be able to do some physical work
• Must be able to work as a team member
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Excellent customer service & communication skills
• Will manage Kitchen in absence of food service director
• Must be available for weekends and Holidays
