Sapphire Nursing and Rehab at Goshen is currently looking to hire a part time Cook to join our dedicated team of professionals. We are looking for people who are passionate about their craft and bring professionalism to their work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares food for meals, including modified textures for restricted and therapeutic diets.
  2. Supervises dietary aides in the preparation and serving of foods and beverages.
  3. Follows instructions of the Dining Services Director in the preparation of meals and maintains meal schedules.
  4. Prepares food by methods that conserve nutritive value and flavor. Ensures foods are palatable, attractive and in the proper form to meet the individual needs of the residents.
  5. Assures that all food items are handled properly to ensure safety and sanitation standards according to State and Federal regulations. Properly stores, covers, and refrigerates necessary items. Ensures that foods are cooked to the appropriate temperatures according to the FDA Food Code, latest edition.
  6. Practices and supervises infection control policies.
  7. Responsible for opening and closing the kitchen.
  8. Document temperatures of food prior to service, refrigeration and freezer.
  9. Assist with preparation and execution of special events and theme meals.
  10. Attends in-service education and dining services staff meetings as required.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification in healthcare cooking (ServSafe or Sodexo)
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in large-scale cooking
  • Strong knowledge of large scale & therapeutic food prep
  • Must be able to do some physical work
  • Must be able to work as a team member
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills
  • Will manage Kitchen in absence of food service director
  • Must be available for weekends and Holidays
