Job summary

Stoney Brook of Hewitt is seeking a part-time cook to join our compassionate culinary team and prepare meals for residents. You will work 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM with weekend and holiday rotation, contributing to a warm, restaurant-like dining experience.

The role requires at least 6 months of prep cook experience, strong communication, and a high school diploma or GED. English literacy and teamwork are essential for daily resident interactions.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.

• Ability to speak, read & write English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or assist in preparation of complete meals - soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods.
• Complies with dietary needs or restrictions of residents; follow instructions to meet dietary needs.
• Create gravies, sauces, and menu items from scratch.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before serving.
• Monitor all food items for temperature, taste and quality; adjust as necessary.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen; clean and shut down equipment properly.
• Assist in inventory to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

Shifts:

• 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
• Includes weekend and holiday shifts on rotation

Responsibilities:

• Prepares or assist in preparation of complete meals - preparing and cooking soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods, etc.
• Complies with all special dietary needs or restrictions of residents ensuring everyone enjoys their meals. We provide clear instructions to help you meet the dietary needs ofour residents.
• Create gravies, sauces, and menu items from scratch, showcasing our culinary creativity.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are serve, elevating the dining experience.
• Monitor all food items for compliance with guidelines for temperature, taste and quality, tastes food to determine quality. Taste food to determine quality and adjust as necessary.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment; ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing.
• Assist in properly utilizing inventory to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 months experience as a prep cook (preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to speak, read & write English.
• Must be willing to undergo a routine background check.
