Job summary

Air Combat Command at Shaw AFB is seeking a non-appropriated fund (NAF) employee for the Youth Center food service position. You will prepare meals, follow CACFP and Air Force requirements, and maintain a clean kitchen according to Military Public Health standards.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving, inventory and records, training attendance, and assisting with purchasing from commissaries and vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience in federal food service is preferred.
• Education substitution is not allowed for this position.
• Foreign education may be evaluated to meet requirements.
• Provide evidence of foreign credentials if applicable.

Job description

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Shaw AFB Youth Center.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares and serves meals and snacks to meet CACFP and Air Fonn Requirements. Using a full range of quantity cooking procedures from USDA recipes and menus, prepares such foods as meats, vegetables, fresh fruit, casseroles and bakes goods. Uses the Food Buying Guide to ensure sufficient foods are prepared for all meals, snacks, and special activities. Assists in purchasing and ordering food at the commissary and from vendors.

Prepares daily food report of all foods prepared for each meal and snack and submits report to School Age Coordinator. Serves meal to each activity room in a timely manner according to the schedule supplied by Coordinator or designee. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen as requires by Military Public Health standards. Attends training and staff meetings. Prepares food for parent activities, special activities and weekly food projects.

Requirements & Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
