Job summary

Eden Vista Stow, part of Vista Senior Living Management, is seeking a Cook (Full-time) to join our kitchen team. Schedule: Flexible AM (6:30am-2:00pm) or PM (11:30am-7:30pm), with every other weekend and holidays.

You will set up workstations, prepare ingredients, cook with various techniques, ensure plating, maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen, store items properly, and monitor stock levels.

Qualifications

• ServeSafe certification is required or preferred.
• Proven experience as a cook in a professional kitchen.
• Experience using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
• Knowledge of grilling, baking, boiling and other cooking methods.
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a team with strong communication.
• Excellent physical condition and stamina for a kitchen environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping, peeling, portioning).
• Cook food using various utensils or grillers.
• Check food while cooking and adjust as needed.
• Ensure attractive presentation by dressing dishes before serving.
• Maintain a sanitized, orderly kitchen environment.
• Store food and other items properly and safely.
• Monitor ingredient quality and stock levels; place orders when needed.

• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
