Santa Clarita Post Acute Care Center is seeking a Full-Time Cook for our dietary department in Newhall, California. You will prepare a variety of foods for residents, staff, and visitors, following menus and schedules while maintaining cleanliness and quality.

Join our team at Santa Clarita Post Acute Care Center, a 99-bed skilled nursing facility located in Newhall, California, as a Full-Time Cook in our dietary department. We are committed to providing a continuum of care that bridges the gap between hospital and home, and we are looking for a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team.

About the Role

As a Full-Time Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods for residents/patients, employees, and visitors. You will prepare food according to menus and recipes, plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules, and perform related duties and cleaning duties as assigned. In the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director/Chef Manager, you will direct other Food and Nutrition Services employees.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of foods for residents/patients, employees, and visitors

  • Plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules

  • Perform related duties and cleaning duties as assigned

  • Direct other Food and Nutrition Services employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director/Chef Manager

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Experience in commercial/volume food preparation required

  • Serve-Safe Certification required

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the spoken English language

  • Verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by state law and in accordance with Company policy

  • Ability to positively interact with residents/patients

  • Ability to solve operational problems in absence of Food Service Director and Assistant Food Service Director/Chef Manager

Education and Vocational Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of volume food production methods and techniques

  • Considerable knowledge of sanitation regulations and practices

  • Ability to make simple arithmetical calculations

  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to department and center

  • Basic knowledge of food-related nutrition principles

Work Environment
  • Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment

Compensation
  • Competitive hourly rate: $18-$23 per hour

  • Full-time position with flexible hours and occasional weekends required
