Job summary

Cambrian Perk is opening a new quick service kitchen in San Jose. We are seeking a Cook to run the line in a fast-paced, chef-driven menu made from scratch, including beverage ingredients. You will work with a small team to deliver high-quality dishes with energy and hospitality.

We value reliability and teamwork as we build our founding staff for opening day, with opportunities to grow as the neighborhood spot develops.

Qualifications

• 2+ years line cook experience.

Pay: $25/hour plus tips (tip pooling)

Schedule: Full-time and part-time positions available, shifts within our 7 AM to 4 PM daily hours

About Cambrian Perk

Cambrian Perk is a new coffee shop and craft kitchen opening this November in the Cambrian Park neighborhood of San Jose. We're built by four local families with more than 50 years of combined experience in the restaurant industry, and we're putting together our founding team now, ahead of opening day. This is a chance to help shape a neighborhood spot from day one, not just join an existing operation.

Job Overview

We're looking for a Cook to help run our line. This is a quick service, full kitchen concept, and our menu is chef driven and made from scratch, including many of our beverage ingredients too. You'll be cooking to order at a fast pace while holding a real standard for quality. We want high energy, outgoing people who make every guest feel like they made the right choice coming in, and who genuinely show that we're glad they chose us, even from the back of the house. We don't schedule separate dishwasher or prep cook positions; line, prep, and dish are shared across the whole kitchen team.

Duties

• Prepare menu items from scratch, following recipes and plating standards set by our chef driven menu.
• Work the line during service, managing multiple orders at once in a quick service, full kitchen environment.
• Share prep and dish duties as part of the kitchen rotation; we don't schedule dedicated prep cook or dishwasher positions, so every cook works the line, preps, and washes dishes as needed.
• Follow proper food handling, temperature, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Detail and deep clean the kitchen daily, on top of ongoing cleaning during your shift, so equipment, surfaces, and storage stay at a high standard.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and stocked, including prep areas, walk in, and equipment.
• Communicate order timing and accuracy with the front counter and barista team so food comes out right and on time.
• Pitch in on light janitorial work as needed, including things like trash, sweeping, mopping, and dish, so the space always feels guest ready.
• Manage your pace during rushes so quality doesn't slip when it's busy.

Requirements

• 2+ years of line cook experience preferred.
• Comfortable with from scratch cooking and following a chef driven menu.
• Current California Food Handler Card, or willing to obtain one within 30 days of hire, as required under California law.
• High energy, outgoing personality and a real sense of hospitality, even from the kitchen.
• Reliable, on time, and able to keep composure during high volume periods.
• Committed to food safety and a clean workspace.
• No ego, willing to pitch in wherever the team needs it that day, whether that's the kitchen, the register, the dining room, or light cleaning; no job is too big or too small for anyone on our team.

Pay & Benefits

• $25/hour plus tips, tip pooling among staff
• One week of paid time off for full time team members, with correlating accrued time off for part time team members, in addition to California state mandated sick pay
