Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing cooked foods, performing all station functions including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and eggs; communicating ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers; providing high-quality service to customers and associates; and performing other duties as directed by management. This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions:
- Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other products.
- Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment accordingly.
- Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
- Practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices, complying with HACCP standards.
- Operate various kitchen equipment; measure and mix ingredients; wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
- Stock, date, rotate, and check temperature of products.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards.
- Minimum of 1 year of related cooking experience; experience in high-volume and casual dining environments preferred.
- Knowledge of soups, sauté, broiler, fry, and pantry stations.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with customers.
- Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand for job functions.
- Frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions.
- Frequent use of sharp knives, utensils, and hot equipment.
- Work in hot environments regularly.
