Job summary

Artis Senior Living of Reading is seeking a Cook to join our welcoming community, where meals are prepared with care and creativity to support residents living with dementia.

The Cook will learn, prepare, cook and plate colorful dishes while upholding safety standards, quality, and presentation aligned with company expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• SERV Safe certification is required; or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Must read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Experience in senior living or healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn, prepare, cook and plate a variety of recipes to meet company standards.
• Contribute to resident experience and elevate the community culture.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary workstation and follow health/ infection control practices.
• Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and share creative ideas with the team.
• May assist with other duties as needed.

Job description

Starting pay is $21.50 / hour and may increase based on experience.

*This is a full time position offering either 1st shift (6am-2pm) or 2nd shift (10am-6:30pm)! Every other weekend required!

The Cook will:

• Learn, prepare, cook and plate a variety of colorful recipes and menu items, ensuring that plate presentation and food quality are to company standards.
• Continuously contribute to the resident experience by showcasing your unique skills and applying your knowledge to elevate the culture of our community.
• Keep assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition and be familiar and comply with all state and local health department practices, safety practices, and infection control practices.
• Participate in dailypre-shift meetings and share your creative ideas with the team to ensure a consistently elevated experience for our residents.
• This position may assist with other responsibilities on an as-needed basis.

How You'll Succeed

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• SERV Safe certification is required; or ability to obtain upon hire
• This position requires the candidate to understand, read, write and effectively verbally communicate in English.
• Prefer experience within senior living or healthcare environments, must be sensitive to needs of senior population.
