Job summary

Artis Senior Living is seeking a compassionate Cook for a full-time role in New Jersey. The position offers a Monday-Friday 10:30am-6:30pm schedule with every other weekend and a starting pay of $19.00 per hour.

You will learn, prepare, cook and plate a variety of colorful recipes, ensuring plate presentation and food quality meet company standards while supporting residents’ needs and preferences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• SERV Safe certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Must read, write and communicate in English.
• Experience in senior living or healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn, prepare, cook and plate a variety of recipes to company standards.
• Elevate the resident experience by applying your skills to enhance community culture.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary workstation in compliance with health practices.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings and share ideas to improve resident experiences.
• May assist with other responsibilities as needed.

The Cook will:

• Learn, prepare, cook and plate a variety of colorful recipes and menu items, ensuring that plate presentation and food quality are to company standards.
• Continuously contribute to the resident experience by showcasing your unique skills and applying your knowledge to elevate the culture of our community.
• Keep assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition and be familiar and comply with all state and local health department practices, safety practices, and infection control practices.
• Participate in dailypre-shift meetings and share your creative ideas with the team to ensure a consistently elevated experience for our residents.
• This position may assist with other responsibilities on an as-needed basis.

How You'll Succeed

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• SERV Safe certification is required; or ability to obtain upon hire
• This position requires the candidate to understand, read, write and effectively verbally communicate in English.
• Prefer experience within senior living or healthcare environments, must be sensitive to needs of senior population.
