Job summary

Waterview Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking an experienced Cook to join our team in a beautiful setting within Westchester County. The Cook will prepare meals and snacks for residents, ensuring sanitary practices and compliance with NY State health codes while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include in-kitchen prep, dining room service, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in line with facility policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Experience in food preparation in a health care facility or related food service operation.
• Completion of an approved sanitation course or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cook in a health care setting.
• Must have knowledge of sanitary codes and menu production methods.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
• Covid-19 vaccinations are encouraged but not mandated.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and provide meals and snacks to residents in a sanitary and safe manner.
• Follow dietetic needs and NYS DOH codes while focusing on customer service.
• Provide meals using proper dining room service for residents and families.
• Maintain proper in-kitchen prep, cleaning, and station duties.
• Adhere to all sanitation, storage and temperature regulations per NYS codes.

• Sunday/Monday - 12pm-8pm
• Tuesday/Wednesday - OFF
• Thu/Fri/Sat - 11am-7pm

Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge.

• The Cook is responsible for preparation/cooking of foods and to provide our residents with all of their meals and/or snacks in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility while focusing on customer service and satisfaction
• Cook will provide our residents with all of their meals in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all dietetic needs, policies, and procedures of the facility and New York State Department of Health codes while focusing on customer service and satisfaction.
• Cook will use proper dining room service for the residents and/or family members
• Cook will use proper "in kitchen" preparation and cleaning in regard to the station assigned to you
• Cook will prepare all foods adhering to all NY State codes and regulations for sanitation, storage and temperature

Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Experience and training in food preparation in a health care facility or related food service operation
• Completion of an approved sanitation course or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 1 years' experience as a Cook in a health care setting desired
• Must have a full knowledge of all sanitary codes and all menu production methods.

• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible
• Exemplary customer service skills
