Job summary

Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, RI, is seeking a dedicated cook to deliver a restaurant-style dining experience for residents. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and team to ensure quality meals and service, following standardized menus and safety standards.

The role requires at least three years of cooking experience, strong teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years’ experience as a cook in a food service environment.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
• Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willing to assist at another community for coverage; travel reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
• Maintains food temperatures, portion control, palatability, and appearance.
• Handles kitchen routines and equipment as assigned by supervisor.
• Assists in cleaning kitchen, storage areas, and supply areas per schedule.
• Removes garbage and cleans trash containers in the kitchen.
• Receives and stores food and supplies.
• Supports person-centered care by engaging with residents and families.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Purpose:

Work closely with the Executive Chef to Director to provide residents with a high level of customer service while promoting a restaurant style dining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares and cooks meals according to established recipes and approved menus.
• Complies with quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food.
• Perform defined work routines using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by supervisor.
• Required to assist in the cleaning of the kitchen equipment, food storage area, and supply areas according to the community schedule.
• Required to remove garbage from the kitchen and to clean trash containers.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Successful completion of ServSafe certification course preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Minimum of three years' experience as a Cook in a food service environment required.
• Must be detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities. Must be willing to assist at another community for coverage or help during an emergency; travel will be reimbursed
