Job summary

Generations Healthcare is seeking a full-time PM Cook in Pleasanton to support daily food services for residents. You will prepare meals per planned menus, help ensure correct diet orders, and work within established food safety policies.

The role requires cooking large quantities, coordinating with the dietitian, and maintaining quality, appearance, and portion control. Competitive benefits apply to full-time staff.

  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet is served to residents.
  • Complete necessary forms and reports and submit to the Director of Food Services.
  • Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
  • Work with the facility's dietitian and implement recommended changes.
  • Ensure all food procedures follow established policies.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
  • Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing.
  • Serve food with proper portion control.
  • Prepare food for therapeutic diets as planned.
  • Prepare food using standardized recipes and special diet orders.

Starting at $21.00 - $23.00 Full Time PM cook / Friday-Tuesday schedule 12pm-8:30pm

Position Overview

The primary role of the Dietary Cook is to provide assistance in all food functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.

Essential Duties (include but are not limited to)
  • Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Food Services.
  • Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary.
  • Work with the facility’s dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of food procedures.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing food practices.
  • This position requires the successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
