Job summary

Care Initiatives in Iowa is seeking a compassionate Cook to join our team. FT days and evenings offer opportunities to impact residents during their healthcare journey, contributing to menu planning, meal preparation, and a dignified dining experience.

You will work to ensure meals are balanced, safe, and appealing, while building positive relationships with residents and incorporating their feedback. Prior healthcare dietary experience is a plus, and training in food safety is provided to

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete Food Safety Sanitation training.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal prep, meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that support comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and presented per dietary requirements and safety standards.
• Build positive relationships with residents, engaging with them and using feedback in service.

What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting a plus!
