Job summary

Child Crisis Arizona is hiring a cook for the Early Head Start program in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves planning, cooking, and serving meals for children, while maintaining cleanliness and adherence to licensing and CACFP standards.

Qualifications

• Education must consist of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have current food handler’s license or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to obtain Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card immediately upon hire.
• Must complete a background check and drug screen.
• Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and pass an Agency driver’s test.
• Must lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
• Experience in institutional food service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, shop and cook for all children in the program.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and pantry, including appliances.
• Maintain licensing standards and sanitation per Health Department.
• Store and upkeep all foods; manage refrigerators, freezers, pantries and cupboards.
• Adhere to CACFP requirements and menu developed by a licensed nutritionist.
• Assist with ordering kitchen supplies and food items.
• Prepare meals and snacks according to the menu.
• Maintain records of food served at each meal.
• Meet with Center Manager for supervision and guidance.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and diversity awareness in daily work.
