Job summary

Stonecroft Assisted Living is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and provide nutritious, high-quality meals to residents. The role emphasizes dietary compliance, timely service, and collaboration with the dietary staff.

You will prepare, portion, and present meals while maintaining kitchen sanitation and safety standards, and respond to residents' dietary requests with compassion and care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous cooking experience in a senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Serve meals in a timely manner with high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures and proper storage guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff, assisting in training new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Assist with inventory management and report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
  • Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and proper sanitation practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
  • Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
