General Work Schedule (days of week): Tuesday - Saturday, with rare other days as needed

General shift hours: Tuesday - Thursday 11:45 am - 8:15 pm; Friday - Saturday 10:45 am - 7:15 pm

Job Summary
About the Role

The primary responsibility of this position is to work as a team member in the daily production requirements for the dining center, catering, and contract services in Dining Services and ensure the highest level of service for all customers.

Job Duties/What You'll Do
  1. Prepare food through various methods of baking, frying, broiling, grilling, etc. using industrial kitchen equipment.
  2. Responsible for maintaining adequate food levels during service times, maintaining quality food standards, food safety and sanitation, cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas.
  3. Provide high-quality customer service through face-to-face interaction with our guests.
  4. Supervise cooks’ helpers and works to keep work areas and equipment clean and maintained.
  5. Keep accurate production records.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Previous large quantity cooking experience.
  2. High school degree or GED.
  3. Working knowledge of kitchen and production equipment.
  4. ServSafe certificate or similar food safety course certificate or pass ServSafe exam within the first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Formal culinary training and/or education preferred.
  2. Ability to organize and manage information and paperwork including production and usage summary reports, recipes and necessary recipe adjustments.
  3. Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, prioritize tasks with the flexibility to respond to changing needs.
  4. Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced environment, and take initiative to accomplish tasks;
  5. Ability to supervise student employees and utilize them resourcefully to efficiently accomplish workload.
  6. Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
