About This Position

The Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing a variety of food items in accordance with assigned work instructions, menus, and guidelines while following food safety and food handling procedures. The Cook also demonstrates experience and knowledge in the preparation of hot and cold food items and all standardized knife cuts. He/she must be able to multi-task and stay calm under pressure, exercising quick problem-solving skills to resolve issues that potentially arise. The ideal candidate will be able to follow recipes, manage their assigned station, and communicate effectively with team members to produce dishes in a timely manner.

Core Responsibilities
  • Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties and complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
  • Use kitchen utensils safely, including knives.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers.
  • Follow portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies.
  • Properly handle, store, label, and rotate products per regulations.
  • Stock and maintain food levels at line stations.
  • Understand menu items and prep ingredients accordingly.
  • Handle hot and cold food preparation conditions.
  • Physical demands include lifting, bending, pushing, standing for extended periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, and at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant cooking experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience in large volume or cafeteria settings is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in food service.
