About This Position

The Cook is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing a variety of food items according to work instructions, menus, and guidelines, while following food safety procedures. The role requires experience in preparing hot and cold food items, understanding standardized knife cuts, multitasking, and maintaining composure under pressure. The ideal candidate can follow recipes, manage their station, and communicate effectively with team members to produce dishes timely.

Core Responsibilities

• Refer to Daily Prep List at each shift's start and complete checklists
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment
• Use kitchen utensils safely
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
• Follow portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies
• Properly handle, store, label, and rotate products
• Stock and maintain food levels at line stations
• Understand menu items and prep ingredients accordingly
• Handle hot and cold food preparation conditions
• Physical demands include lifting, bending, standing for extended periods
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years old
• Minimum one year of relevant cooking experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Experience in cafeteria or large-volume food service is a plus
