Job summary

Missouri Veterans Commission in Missouri is hiring a Cook to support the Home’s dietary team by preparing meals and serving diets as prescribed for our Veterans.

The position offers two shifts with hourly pay rates posted: $17.45–$17.77 for day shift and $19.45–$19.77 for evening shift, plus a strong benefits package including vacation, sick leave, holidays and health coverage.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of work experience in food service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to recipes and serve according to diets as ordered by the physician.
• Perform a variety of skilled cooking assignments, including daily preparation of portions of a large production meal.
• Coordinate activities of a small work group including Food Service Assistants as needed.
• Ensure food is handled, stored, and served within protocols.
• Maintain sanitary conditions in the kitchen by participating in the cleaning of stoves, cookers, kettles and all other related cooking and food storage devices.
• Operate equipment, making sure it is properly cleaned and sanitized after each use and report problems per facility policy.
