Job summary

Autumnwood of McBain is seeking a dedicated cook/dietary aide to prepare nourishing meals for residents, following dietitian-approved menus and ensuring meals are served at the right temperatures and times.

You will work with an experienced team in a compassionate care environment, focusing on nutrition, quality, and guest satisfaction while maintaining efficient kitchen operations and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in cooking or dietary aide roles is preferred.
• Experience in institutional food service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares delicious, nourishing and well-balanced meals to meet daily nutritional needs.
• Prepares foods according to menu cycles developed by registered dietitians.
• Cooks meals in quantities that are served at proper temperatures and times.
• Uses food supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepares and maintains food alternatives for guest choices and refusals.
• Supervises culinary staff regarding food storage, preparation, tray assembly and cleaning.

Responsibilities

• A cook and dietary aide prepares delicious, nourishing and well-balanced meals to meet the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each guest. In addition, the cook:
• Prepares foods that correspond to the menu cycles developed by registered dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares appetizing, well-presented and nutritionally-adequate meals in quantities that are served at the proper temperatures and within the appropriate time frames.
• Uses food supplies and equipment in an efficient and economic manner to prevent waste.
• Prepares and maintains food alternatives to accommodate guest choices and refusals of meals served.
• Supervises culinary staff with regard to food storage, food preparation, tray assembly and cleaning.
• In the absence of the chef and/or dietary manager, the cook supervises the culinary center’s employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of experience as a cook or dietary aide in an institutional food service setting preferred
