Job summary

Regency at Shelby Township is seeking reliable culinary staff to prepare nutritious meals for residents in a caring, team-focused environment. The cook/dietary aide will follow dietitian-driven menus, prepare balanced dishes, and help ensure food safety and portion control.

You will join a dedicated team in a community that values communication, teamwork and compassionate service to residents with health and physical needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals per menus developed by registered dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares meals that are well-presented and nutritionally adequate.
• Uses supplies efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepares food alternatives to accommodate guest choices.
• Supervises culinary staff regarding storage, prep and cleaning.
• In absence of chef/dietary manager, supervises culinary staff.

Responsibilities

A cook and dietary aide prepares delicious, nourishing and well-balanced meals to meet the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each guest. In addition, the cook:

• Prepares foods that correspond to the menu cycles developed by registered dietitians
• Cooks or prepares appetizing, well-presented and nutritionally-adequate meals in quantities that are served at the proper temperatures and within the appropriate time frames
• Uses food supplies and equipment in an efficient and economic manner to prevent waste
• Prepares and maintains food alternatives to accommodate guest choices and refusals of meals served
• Supervises culinary staff with regard to food storage, food preparation, tray assembly and cleaning
• In the absence of the chef and/or dietary manager, the cook supervises the culinary center’s employees

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
