Job summary

TaraVista Behavioral Health Center in Devens, MA is seeking a Cook to join our Food Service team. Under the supervision of the Food Service Manager, you will prepare meals for patients, staff and guests, following from-scratch methods and approved recipes.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of large-scale food preparation experience, and knowledge of ovens and mixers. We offer medical benefits, 401(k), LTD, life/AD&D, PTO, tuition reimbursement and CEU support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Two (2) years training or experience in large scale commercial or institutional food preparation.
• Working knowledge of ovens, mixers, and other kitchen equipment.
• Prefer completion of a Certified/Food Service Sanitation Course.
• Must be able to read and write and make simple calculations and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be thoroughly familiar with foods and preparation methods.
• Must know the proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization and yield of meats and other foods.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Food Service Manager, the cook is responsible for the preparation of food for patients, employees, and guests.
• Prepare and cook hot/cold food items using from scratch cooking methods, mixes and/or other convenience items, and ready to cook products.
• Utilize approved recipes and instructions to prepare and cook regular (house) and a variety of modified diet items.
• Assure that top quality, properly prepared and cooked, eye appealing products are always produced.
• Maintain productivity in order to meet department hot food needs as required by meal period schedules.
• Clean and sanitize all cooking areas and equipment as instructed and as needed to meet department sanitation requirements.
• Always use safe food handling procedures to ensure food wholesomeness including maintaining safe temperatures and maintaining proper food storage to ensure that cross contamination doesn't result.
• Maintain proper organization of all food prep, cooking, and refrigerated storage areas to insure optimal effectiveness of work processes.

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience.
