Job summary

Harry Meyering Center, Inc in Minnesota is seeking a Cook to prepare meals, plan menus, and ensure nutritious options for individuals we support, following dietary needs.

Shift schedule includes mornings and evenings on Tue–Fri with every-other-weekend work; pay is $18.00 per hour with a $1,000 retention bonus. Training is provided and benefits apply for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Prior cooking experience is not required but not preferred.
• Must be self-motivated and have good interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass a driving record check.
• Must pass MN Department of Human Services Background Study.

Responsibilities

• Interact with individuals genuinely and respectfully.
• Support and/or provide for the dietary needs of individuals.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and support a team-oriented environment.
• Attend and complete all required training and in-services.
• Prepare meals according to the schedule and dietary needs.
• Pursue professional growth and development.
• Deliver groceries and pick up supplies in all types of weather.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance in all communications.
• Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.

Cook Harry Meyering Center (HMC) supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and communities, helping them live meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Job Purpose

Do you enjoy cooking and preparing meals for others? Join the Harry Meyering Center team as a Cook! In this role, you'll prepare meals, plan menus, and help ensure the individuals we support receive nutritious meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Retention Bonus: Eligible for a $1,000 retention bonus!

Schedule

• Tuesday and Wednesday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Thursday and Friday: 5:30 AM–1:30 PM
• Every other weekend: 5:30 AM–1:30 PM
• Please note that this schedule includes early morning shifts and every-other-weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Interact with individuals genuinely and respectfully
• Support and/or provide for the dietary needs of individuals
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, support team-oriented work environments, and provide safe working environments
• Attend and complete all required training and in-services
• Prepare meals according to the schedule and individual(s) dietary needs
• Pursue professional growth and development
• Must deliver groceries and pick up supplies in all types of weather
• Maintain HIPAA Compliance in all written or verbal communications, both external and internal to HMC
• Follow all health and safety policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
• Prior cooking experience or training is not preferred but not required
• Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills
• The candidate must have basic knowledge of technology programs. The candidate must also be able to use and/or be willing to learn technology for daily charting
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted
• Must pass an MN Department of Human Services Background Study
