Job summary

Stoney Brook of Hewitt is seeking a part-time cook to continue our story of compassionately caring for our residents. Prepare meals and support dietary needs in a warm senior living setting.

Shifts are 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation. We offer benefits such as health coverage, paid vacation, 401(k), paid training, and opportunities for advancement; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience as a prep cook (preferred).
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to speak, read & write English.
• Must be willing to undergo a routine background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or assists in preparation of complete meals incl. soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods.
• Complies with dietary needs or restrictions of residents and follows instructions.
• Create gravies, sauces, and menu items from scratch with culinary creativity.
• Ensure presentation by dressing dishes before serving and elevating dining experience.
• Monitor food items for quality, temperature, taste; adjust as needed.
• Maintain a sanitized kitchen; manage inventory to minimize waste.

• Prepares or assist in preparation of complete meals - preparing and cooking soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods, etc.
• Complies with all special dietary needs or restrictions of residents ensuring everyone enjoys their meals. We provide clear instructions to help you meet the dietary needsofour residents.
• Create gravies, sauces, and menu items from scratch, showcasing our culinary creativity.
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are serve, elevating the dining experience.
• Monitor all food items for compliance with guidelines for temperature, taste and quality, tastes food to determine quality. Taste food to determine quality and adjust as necessary.
• Maintain a sanitized and orderly kitchen environment; ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing.
• Assist in properly utilizing inventory to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.

Requirements:
