Job Summary
Prepare food for the restaurant and banquets of a consistent quality and in accordance with production requirements and quality standards, while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food following recipes in accordance with food production, portion, and presentation standards to ensure consistency of product.
- Prepare food for banquets following specifications on Banquet Event Order.
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service.
- Follow all quality standard policies for food safety with proper food preparation and handling.
- Maintain and properly sanitize cooking, prep areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols including storage, handling, transportation of food and knife work.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work and storage areas.
- Date all food containers and assist with storage and rotation of food items.
- Practice inventory control and inform supervisor of any out-of-stock items or shortages.
- Follow all Health Department and company regulations regarding food and storage standards and safety.
- Practice safe work habits always to avoid possible injury to self or other employees and report any unsafe conditions to management.
- Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by management.
Skills
- Must have strong knowledge of cooking techniques.
- Basic knowledge on food safety and food processing and ability to perform all basic cooking skills.
- Must be trained in knife skills and basic kitchen equipment usage.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to withstand temperature variations both hot and cold.
- Ability to walk and stand during entire shift and perform repetitive work.
- Finger/hand dexterity to operate food machinery and perform tasks.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry or move goods weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Cooking school or culinary institute education preferred
- Minimum 2 years of previous culinary experience or related work experience
- ServSafe certification a plus
