Job summary

McGregor is seeking a Cook to join our dining services team in East Cleveland, Ohio. You will read menus, prepare foods, and ensure accurate portions and attractive presentation according to recipes and dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities include planning ahead with production sheets, following requisitions, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Previous quantity cooking experience and a ServSafe certificate are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Culinary degree preferred.
• Six months to one year of related experience or one to two years of equivalent education/experience preferred.
• One year of experience in quantity cooking preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read menus and spreadsheets; consult with Dining Services Supervisor regarding food prep and leftovers.
• Follow daily requisitions for needed foodstuffs.
• Plan preparation of foodstuffs in advance to ensure on-time service and proper portions.
• Portion foods and present attractively.
• Prepare hot entrees, soups, and vegetables according to recipes and diets.
• Prepare in advance by checking next day's menus and production sheets.

What will I do as a Cook with McGregor?

• Read menus and spreadsheets, consult with Dining Services Supervisor as necessary regarding the preparation of food and use of leftovers.
• Follow daily requisitions for necessary foodstuffs.
• Plan preparation of foodstuff in advance to ensure all food is prepared when needed and in quantities specified to serve eye-appealing, tasty food items. (Food is thawed, fresh, and proper amounts available).
• Portion food and arrange prepared foods in an attractive and appetizing manner.
• Prepares hot entrees, soups, and vegetables according to standardized recipes and special diets. Following preparation sheets and recipes.
• Prepares in advance as indicated by checking the next day's menus, production sheets, and supplies.
