Job summary

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing food for the Corps internal events, ensuring menu compliance with meal pattern requirements, maintaining a clean kitchen, ordering and inventory management, creating menus, and providing excellent customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

• Create menus using donated foods and purchased items
• Prepare food for all program and Corps events
• Maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the kitchen
• Adhere to ServSafe food handling regulations
• Order all food and program supplies
• Ensure food orders and deliveries are recorded and put away
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• 1+ years’ professional cooking experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of safe food handling guidelines, including:
  • Cross contamination prevention
  • Proper storage
  • Proper rotation
  • Proper preparation

Computer Skills

• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office 365
• Basic computer operation knowledge
• Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
• Willingness to learn new software as needed

Certificates And Licenses

• Current ServSafe Certification, or gain it within 1 year
• Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
• Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
