Job summary

The Palmettos of Parklane Assisted Living is seeking a culinary Cook to join our Food Nutrition Service Team. This role supports high-quality meal preparation in a healthcare setting, following standardized recipes and portion control to serve our residents and guests.

We offer opportunities in a caring, team-oriented environment with flexible scheduling on AM/PM shifts. Healthcare food service experience is preferred but not required, with chances for advancement and benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, date items and store properly.
• Review menus, recipes, and production sheets before cooking.
• Prepare meals per recipes and diets with correct portions.
• Test and taste foods for appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature.
• Time meal preparation to meet service schedules.
• Check trays for diet accuracy and deliver meals on time.

The Palmettos of Parklane Assisted Living fosters an environment of teamwork and provides opportunities in a culinary environment in a healthcare setting. The Dietary Cook performs specified duties to maintain high standards of quality food preparation, production, service, and portion control, using standardized recipes, for all customers.

Position Highlights:

• Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and assure quality products. Dates, labels, and stores items properly. Uses proper food handling techniques.
• Review's menus, therapeutic menus, recipes, and production sheets before preparing meals; prepares and serves diets properly, accurately, and attractively as planned using proper portions and special diet items.
• Follows standardized recipes and special diet orders, preparing sufficient quantities to meet all service requirements.
• Responsible for testing and tasting foods of all consistencies for proper appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature and adjust if needed.
• Responsible for timing of preparation of meals/snacks to meet time schedule for service for patients and customers to ensure all meals/snacks are served as scheduled.
• Checks trays for accuracy of diets, preferences, and quality before they are delivered. Serves on tray line and delivers carts to floors as needed.

Experience
