JOIN OUR TEAM!*** Full-Time Cook Position Available ***Primary Job Purpose: Prepare daily menu items in accordance with local, state, and federal foodstandards, facility and department policies, and in accordance with the planned menu, in the timeallotted, to ensure that residents/staff/guests receive high-quality, adequate, and accurate food.Customer Service: Adherence to the MOSES program to include Mission, Ownership, Success,Excellence and Service.Essential Job Functions:Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.Assist with the menu development.Prepare food in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes and special diet orders.Maintain production records accurately and consistently.Handle, store, and provide food and supplies following safe food handling practices to prevent food-borne illness.Ensure that all food service policies and procedures, including HACCP procedures, are followed. Follow established safety and sanitation practices.Display and serve hot and cold foods in an appropriate and attractive manner.Maintain and care for department equipment and supplies.Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions when performing daily tasks.Complete monthly audits according to State regulations.Must maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPAA regulations.Assure residents rights, privacy, and HIPAA regulations are followed.In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.Qualifications, Education, and Experience: High school diploma or equivalency, preferred. FoodSafety Certification is required. Must be able to read and write English.Other Skills and Abilities:Excellent sensory perception; ability to distinguish differences in taste, smell, vision, and hearing to evaluate the quality of food.Maintain punctuality when reporting to work and leaving work.Ability to manage time and resources effectively.Ability to communicate well with residents, their families, and other staff to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.Ability to think critically, be detail-oriented, be flexible, work well with peers, work under supervision, handle multiple interruptions, and work on multiple tasks throughout the day.Must be able to use initiative and judgment in maintaining assigned area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.Must exhibit a positive attitude; be courteous, compassionate, and respectful to residents, families, and co-workers.Non-Essential Job Functions: May participate in Eben Ezer committees. Attend and participate inin-service training programs within the department and facility.Material and Equipment used but not limited to: Employee will work with a variety ofcommercial grade equipment located in the kitchen area such as; steam tables, ovens, stoves,utensils, commercial dishwasher, etc. Employee will use a variety of cleaning equipment to cleanthe area worked in.Working Environment/Physical Activities: Must be able to walk and stand entire shift. Use ofhands to handle, feel, and reach. Employee will walk, stand, sit, bend, climb, reach, stoop, kneel,crouch; lift, push carts/wheelchairs, and keyboarding during work hours. Must be able to lift andcarry 0-50 pounds by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance. Must be able to push/pullup to 250 pounds regularly using a cart/wheelchair. The employee is constantly exposed to avariety of environments, including exposure to heat, water, grease, chemicals, electric and radianthazards, noise, odors, unpredictable situations, and many interruptions. The employee isfrequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions in the kitchen/dishwashing area. Is subject tophysically ill residents as well as hostile and emotionally upset residents and/or families.Working Hours: 7-10 hour shifts as scheduled. May include any combination of day or eveningand will include weekends and holidays.
