Job summary

Blair Memory Care Center of Cary is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and provide nutritious, high‑quality meals to residents. You will prepare meals according to menus, meet dietary requirements, and ensure proper portion control and presentation.

Join us in a sanitary, organized kitchen while collaborating with the Dietary Manager and staff. The role supports resident satisfaction and adheres to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience cooking for seniors or healthcare or restaurants preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and dietary guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring nutrition and dietary needs.
• Serve meals timely with quality, portion control and presentation.
• Keep kitchen clean, organized and sanitary following safety procedures.
• Work with Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and training.
• Assist with inventory and report shortages or orders.
• Address residents' dietary requests and preferences for satisfaction.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and sanitation practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
• Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
• Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
• Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Previous cooking experience in a senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting (preferred)
• Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
