The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals according to the menu, monitoring food handling, preparation, meal service, and equipment cleaning. Safely and efficiently provide nutritionally appropriate food, ensuring quality food service and nutrition care in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Two years of experience as a cook in a large-scale operation preferred.
  • One year’s work experience in long-term care preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes; consult supervisor or dietitian for menu changes.
  • Review menus, resident census information, production guides, and pre-prep sheets to determine food quantities.
  • Prepare food following safe food handling guidelines per company policy and regulations.
  • Assist with food ordering, storage, and preparation as directed; prepare food promptly to maintain quality and serve on time.
  • Maintain standards for food preparation and quality; use nutritionally equivalent substitutes when needed; follow standardized recipes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, slicers, steamers, food processors, ovens, ranges, and tilt skillets; cook food using various methods.
  • Prepare consistency-modified and diet-specific foods; assist with special function meals.
  • Complete pre-preparation tasks like washing and cutting vegetables and fruits; slice meats and measure ingredients.
  • Serve food attractively, test for palatability, and monitor food temperatures.
  • Make and record menu modifications under supervision; use substitutes appropriately and seek approval when necessary.
  • Follow proper hygiene and food storage procedures; maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Meet meal schedules and assist in other duties as assigned.
