Job summary

Prairie State Energy Campus seeks a Belt Technician to work with the Belt Supervisor on the installation and recovery of conveyor belting, structure and drives on both surface and underground.

The role requires knowledge of underground mining practices, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to read mine plans; candidates should have relevant certificates and be capable of working various shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• First Class Papers (12 months experience) and Mine Competency certificate required.
• 2-year Associate's degree in coal mining or related technical field or Coal Mining Certificate from an accredited college with equivalent experience preferred.
• Must successfully complete applicable pre-employment testing.
• MSHA electrical card preferred.
• Emergency Medical Training is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of underground mining practices and MSHA rules.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain conveyor belts, feeders, belt drives, take-ups and fire prevention equipment and firefighting apparatus.
• Recover, inventory and prepare belt equipment for next installation.
• Perform daily and weekly checks.
• Work closely with maintenance to keep equipment available.
• Follow all safe work procedures.
