Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Illinois is seeking a Converting Supervisor to lead the corrugator/converting shift. You will manage daily operations, ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery while driving cost improvements.

You will coach staff, coordinate with other departments, and report KPI metrics to optimize plant performance. The role requires 3+ years in a supervisory packaging environment, Lean/Six Sigma experience, and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of corrugator / converting supervisory experience in a packaging facility.
• Experience in a Lean environment; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering or Operations Management preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Proven problem-solving and coaching abilities.
• Ability to lead and develop staff across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day shift operations focusing on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Act as first contact for operators regarding mechanical issues or production problems.
• Support continuous improvement and enforce control procedures.
• Coordinate production with other departments to meet goals.
• Monitor production to reduce waste and meet schedules.
• Input production data to measure KPIs.
• Provide safety improvements and ensure environmental health.
• Produce daily shift production reports and reviews.
• Manage staff performance and development.
• Direct maintenance to troubleshoot and perform preventive upkeep.
