Job summary

ND Paper in Sturtevant, WI seeks a Utility Operator – Converting to provide flexible, cross-trained coverage across the converting department, operating flexo folder gluers, die cutters, bundler and stitcher.

You will set up lines at shift start, verify first piece, adjust settings, and maintain quality while transitioning between machines as production demands.

This is a hands-on role with safety standards, on third shift 10 PM–6 AM, offering growth in a manufacturing environment at ND Paper.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn and operate multiple types of converting equipment through structured on-the-job training
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, print layouts, and material/order specifications
• Reliable attendance and punctuality — this role is a coverage position; unplanned absences directly impact production
• Demonstrated attention to detail in a production or manufacturing environment
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation accurately

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned converting equipment safely and to production standard.
• Set up equipment at shift start: confirm dies, plates, scores, glue settings, and job-specific parameters before running first piece.
• Complete first-piece verification on every order before full production begins.
• Adjust machine settings as needed during the run to maintain output quality and speed.
• Transition between equipment assignments within or across shifts as directed by the Lead or Supervisor.
• Inspect in-process product throughout the run for dimensions, print registration, score/slot positions, glue integrity, and bundle/stitch quality.
• Stop the run immediately if product is out of spec and initiate a quality hold per SOP.
• Verify order count accuracy and complete required quality forms before releasing finished goods
• Log downtime events with correct reason code and machine.
• Escalate issues to the Lead for maintenance beyond operator level.
