Job Title: Converting Assistant (Packer)

Job Description

The Converting Assistant (Packer) supports production by removing finished pouches from the converting machine, packaging them into the correct boxes, and ensuring products meet quality and packaging standards. This role also involves making minor machine adjustments, loading and unloading materials, and assisting with basic preventative maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Remove pouches from the converting machine and package them into the appropriate boxes according to product specifications.
• Prepare boxes for packaging, including assembling, taping, and staging them for use on the production line.
• Print and apply labels to boxes accurately, then move labeled boxes to the pallet in an organized manner.
• Pack products in accordance with individual product instructions to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with packaging requirements.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to the converting machine as needed to maintain efficient operation.
• Assist with machine preventative maintenance by helping with basic tasks such as cleaning, inspection, and simple mechanical checks.
• Load materials into the machine and unload finished materials or components as required to support continuous production.
• Use basic hand tools and measuring devices, such as tape measures, to support machine operation and packaging tasks.
• Follow all safety procedures and food safety guidelines, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and compliance with cleanliness standards.
• Perform general labor tasks as needed to support overall production and packaging operations.
• Communicate clearly with team members and machine operators regarding any issues, changes, or concerns related to production or packaging.

Essential Skills

• At least 3+ months of production experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift while performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to perform stationary, repetitive work with consistency and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
• Ability to read and write English to understand work instructions, labels, and safety information.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around production and packaging machinery.
• Experience with basic machine operation in a production or packaging environment.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring tools, such as a tape measure.
• Reliability and punctuality to support a consistent production schedule.
• Willingness to work the overnight shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in packaging, packing, or converting operations.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to inks, solvents, or similar production materials.
• Experience assisting with machine preventative maintenance or minor mechanical repairs.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, packaging, and product handling.
• Ability to follow detailed product-specific packing instructions and quality standards.
• Comfort working with general labor tasks and adapting to changing production needs.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a distinct smell of inks and solvents, reflecting an active production environment. The facility is clean and operates under strict food safety guidelines, which require the use of hair nets and ear plugs while on the production floor. Steel-toe footwear is mandatory for safety. You will work an overnight shift from 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Monday-Friday, performing hands‑on tasks around production and packaging machinery in a structured, process‑driven setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.28 - $21.28/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
